Competition should again be intense in the fourth Mountain Scene Twenty/20 cricket contest kicking off this weekend.
The Arrowtown team, most of whom play for the town’s rugby side, will be out to defend their title in the seven-round series, which then culminates in a big final.
Last year’s runners-up, Kelvin Heights Ducks, marshalled by veteran pace bowler John Cushen, will be looking to go one better.
The Fernhill/Sunshine Goats, including club cricketers Jarred Andrew, Hayden Cosgrove and Sean Windle, will be tough to beat.
Jack’s Point Angry Dragons – who might fancy themselves in this Year of the Dragon – include former All Black Justin Marshall and ex-Highlander Kelvin Middleton.
Frankton has some promising youngsters as well as established cricketer Cam Fawkner.
The colourful Central Queenstown Pelicans, who won the first two competitions, will be out to redeem themselves after slipping down the pecking order last year.
Lake Hayes Estate and Wakatipu both have the capacity to surprise other sides.
