Highlanders keen on revenge

Highlander Buxton Popoali’I heads up-field against the Chiefs during his side’s 38-36 loss in Queenstown on Saturday.

The Highlanders, including All Blacks Adam Thomson, Andrew Hore and Hosea Gear, played a Super 15 pre-season rugby match in front of 3000-4000 fans at the downtown Recreation Ground.

Highlanders marketing boss Doug McSweeney says it was great to return to Queenstown with the side which had a bonding trip here and in Glenorchy in December.

The team have another warm-up match in Auckland on Saturday against the Blues before their first official match against the Chiefs in Hamilton on February 25. The Highlanders’ first home game in Dunedin at the new roofed stadium is on March 3 against the Crusaders.
