Young Southland representative Cody Harper shows his style in the 36-hole Queenstown Men’s Golf Open last Sunday, watched by (from left) Blair Dibley, Russell Newman and Ben Gallie.

The strokeplay tournament at the Kelvin Heights course was won by Southland amateur Liam Balneaves, who beat local golf pro Craig Palmer in a playoff. Harper, 21, finished 12th.

Other locals to stand out – from more than 60 Otago/Southland amateurs and pros – included Mark Brooks, Peter Buckley, Sean Roche, Gallie, Dibley, Danny King and Simon Boland, who finished from fourth to 10th respectively.
