Queenstowners Braden Lee (left) and Daniel Smith at their new martial arts and conditioning studio opening this weekend.
“We decided there wasn’t room for just another gym,” Lee says.
So he’s recruited boxing, kickboxing, jujitsu and judo coaches – and installed a collapsible boxing ring.
The studio, called Fight Science, also has full gym facilities including novel training methods like speed parachutes and resistant bungy cords.
Lee and Smith, both 25, have played together in the New Zealand ice hockey team, the Ice Blacks, for the past six years.
A personal trainer who introduced boot camps to Queenstown four years ago, Lee was raised in the Wakatipu while carpenter Smith shifted here mid-year.
The gym, at Repco Boulevard off Industrial Place, holds open days this Saturday and Sunday between 10am-4pm.
