Gun ski racers Ben Griffin and Taylor Rapley (pictured) took home more than just silverware at the end of the Australia New Zealand Cup series last week.
The NZ national alpine team members now hold coveted yellow bibs after winning race titles, giving them the right to start in 31st position – despite their lower world-rankings – in other prestigious Continental Cup events like the NorAm and Europa Cups.
Queenstown’s Rapley and Griffin, from Ohakune, both won their trophies for the best overall Kiwis in super-G at the NZ Alpine Nationals at Mt Hutt last week.
Griffin also won the national champs’ overall men’s title while fellow team-mate Sarah Jarvis won the women’s category. Local racer Adam Barwood and Rapley were runners-up.
