Frisbee golf comes full circle

Queenstown is now home to a full-size 18-hole disc golf course.

The Queenstown Disc Golf Club installed the final five holes this month, bringing the Queenstown Gardens course up to international standard.

Club chairman James Smithells says most of the funds for the $450-a-pop metal installations came from Pub Charities and the New Zealand Disc Golf Association.

“It’s a super-popular course – on a good summer day you’ll get 500 people playing.”

The course initially started with just one hole in 1996 before eventually growing to 13 holes by 2002.
