The finalists in last summer’s Mountain Scene Twenty/20 cricket league are making the running.
Three-time defending champion Arrowtown notched its third win of the summer after beating Wakatipu at Millbrook Corner last Friday.
Arrowtown posted 191 runs thanks to Cam Bell’s stunning 90 off about 40 balls, and 58 from Jarred Andrew.
Wakatipu fought gamely in reply with Aaron McLeod scoring 68, but fell 24 runs short.
Arrowtown captain Hayden Finch took three wickets.
Last summer’s beaten finalist, Kelvin Heights Ducks, posted its third win this season, beating Frankton Jets last Friday.
The Ducks, helped by Kyle Paterson’s 58 not out and Dipen Tandel’s 55, amassed 171 for eight wickets in its 20 overs.
The Jets came up well short in reply, despite a 44 from Dean Jamieson.
Jack’s Point Angry Dragons won their game over Lake Hayes Rabbits by default while a clash between the Boydtown Chargers and the Central Queenstown Pelicans was postponed.
