Forty mountain bikers battled on a dry and dusty Wynyard track in the fourth round of Queenstown’s downhill series – including Fabien Sellier.
Rider Evan Winton took out the Elite category with the fastest time of the day, 2min 11sec, while international racer Frederick Kiejlsen won the Sport Men category in 2.22sec.
Solo female entrant and first time racer Erin Dodds won her category in 3.24sec while visiting rider Jake Paddon won the juniors in 2.32sec. Race organiser Jimmy Carling says: “We combined favourite features with lesser used parts of the track, with options for all abilities from novice to experts.
“Riders had two hours of practice to get their heads around the course and the infamous Creek Gap jump.”
The next race is on the Remarkables’ Nationals track in two weeks’ time.
