Defending Peak to Peak champion Adam Milne lost his title last Saturday to former two-times winner Dougal Allan of Wanaka.
Allan, who first won the multisport event from The Remarkables Ski Area to Coronet Peak Ski Area, in 2008, clock 2hr 20min 52sec, just under a minute ahead of Christchurch-based Milne.
Milne, unlike Allan and third-placed Gavin Mason of Wanaka, completed the full 7km paddle from Frankton Beach to Queenstown Bay.
Milne and all others behind him were diverted to the edge of Queenstown Gardens when race director Geoff Hunt ruled that Queenstown Bay was too choppy to be safe.
Wanaka’s Simone Meier defended her 2010 title, finishing in 2:31.08sec, six minutes faster than last year.
Fergburger also retained its open teams title in 2:03.06, again heading off former winner Outside Sports.
Out of nine school teams, Central Southland College of Winton headed off Wakatipu High for line honours.
Altogether 85 teams and 56 individuals completed the 44km race, which involved skiing or boarding, cycling, kayaking and running.
