The semi-finalists in this season’s Mountain Scene Twenty/20 cricket league include the three bottom-placed teams from last year’s competition.

Top-placed Wakatipu – wooden spooners last season – play fourth-placed Frankton in one semi this Sunday.
The other semi pits defending champions Arrowtown against 2009-10 winners Central Queenstown, who were second-last last year.

Both games are on at 11am at the Events Centre, with the winners playing the final at 3pm.

The winner of the rescheduled game between Jack’s Point and Lake Hayes Estate, at 5.30pm tomorrow, will get to play off for fifth against Fernhill/Sunshine Bay on Sunday at 2pm.

The loser of that Jack’s Point versus Lake Hayes Estate match takes on a winless Kelvin Heights for a new wooden spoon award at 11am on Sunday.

Only one final round-robin game was played last weekend after rain washed out Sunday’s matches, with Frankton beating Central Queenstown last Friday.

Batting first, Central Queenstown were all out for 81, losing eight wickets for 14 runs including three run-outs.
Frankton’s Cohen Nash took two wickets for three runs. Frankton ran down those runs for the loss of only two wickets with Oscar Harper scoring 52 not out.

Semi-finals draw (Both at Queenstown Events Centre): Sunday 11am – Semi one, QEC1: Wakatipu v Frankton; Semi two, QEC2: Arrowtown v Central Queenstown. Final, Main Oval: 3pm
