Queenstown should know in two weeks’ time if it will be allocated any matches during the 2015 Cricket World Cup.

The schedules and venues for the cup – being jointly hosted by Australia and New Zealand – are to be announced on July 30.

Councillor Russell Mawhinney, who chairs a steering group that bid for games at the Queenstown Events Centre, has said benefits to the resort could be greater than 2011’s Rugby World Cup. Queenstown hosted England and Ireland during part of RWC.
