Schoolies run hot

Wakatipu High’s top team have done it again.

For the second week running they’ve knocked over a form side, nobbling highly ranked Chico’s/ABL in a 54-53 nailbiter.

Down by 10 in the third quarter, Chico’s/ABL looked to be down and out but rallied to finish strongly. High School 1 just held on by the narrowest of margins. The school side upset reigning champs Altitude 50-45 the week before.

GRC continued their winning streak, romping home by 30 points against Harcourts. Altitude and Famous Kelly’s also posted big wins over High School B and Exec Accommodation respectively.

In the Senior A grade, newbies Glenorchy tested Cougar Security, who squeaked home with a five-goal margin.

Grudge match
Altitude v GRC, Saturday noon, Ct 1

The two meet for the first time since last year’s final and both are keen to draw psychological first blood.

After two grand final losses, GRC is desperate to take the title this season – and if their early form is anything to go by, they’re looking good for it. They’ll have their mettle tested against the defending champs, however.

Be sure to be at the Events Centre on Saturday because this match will be a cracker.

The remaining school teams start this week.
