Courtside with Jen Andrews

New blood

High School Base has advanced to the Premiers after a hard-fought promotion/relegation match against High
School 2 last Saturday.

The tense, action-packed game saw the scores all locked up at halftime but Base dug deep and came out fighting in the second half.

GK Anna Lindley had a blinder on defence and centre/WA combo Alice Sheehy and Lauren Campbell mounted a strong attack, bringing top-quality ball down the court and feeding in beautifully to their shooters.

With no time to celebrate, Base went toe-to-toe with Premier competition leaders Altitude, who didn’t pull
any punches. Altitude was on fire and for the second time this season scored more than 100 goals in the match-up.

Game of the weekend

GRC v Harcourts,
Saturday 3pm, Court 1, Events Centre

GRC will be sporting some changes to their lineup this week after Jess Wilson’s departure to sunnier shores.

It’s the end of an era for the team – Wilson and Sarah Russell have been an intimidating and polished defence combo for the past few years. However, there’s still plenty of firepower on GRC’s bench so Premier teams will be keeping a sharp eye on this game to see what happens.

Promotion/relegation: WHS Base 22 WHS 2 15

Premier Grade: GRC 39 Famous Kelly’s 28, Altitude 110 WHS Base 21, Chico’s/ABL 42 Harcourts 30, WHS 1 60 WHS Yr 10A 31.
