Courtside with Jen Andrews

Do or die

With only one more game to go in the first round, High School 1, Altitude, GRC and Chico’s/ABL all cemented top-four placings after strong performances last Saturday.

It’s do-or-die time for High School 1 and Altitude to find the outright winner of the round. Both are tied for first place and if they both win on Saturday the contest will be decided on goal ratios.

Tougher games and a more even playing field are likely in the next round with the addition of a Premier and Senior A grade pro- motion/relegation stage.

Close encounter
PREMIER: Chico’s/ABL v GRC, 3pm, Court 1, Events Centre

This clash will be a cracker, with these teams facing off as they play off for third and fourth place. Both teams have plenty of firepower and are hungry for the win, so I’m expecting a fast-paced, tightly defended game.

Best of luck to the five Wakatipu High girls representing us at the Southland reps this weekend.
