Comp heats up

It’s a whole new ball game for the premier grade after last Saturday’s results. There was plenty of pride, passion and bodies on the line as all eight teams put on superb full-court performances.

GRC have done it – High School 1 have finally been defeated.

But what a game – GRC came out firing from the first whistle and took the first quarter by seven goals. High School didn’t panic under pressure and came roaring back in the second quarter to level the scores by half-time.

From then on, the advantage fluctuated between both teams until GRC put on a spurt at the end to take the match 51-46.

The Harcourts and Executive Accommodation games also went to the wire with cheers, groans and plenty of bitten nails as each hard-fought goal was scored.

Altitude had a tough game against Chico’s/ABL but after being neck and neck in the first half, they stepped up a gear and pulled away to take the match 48-34.

High School 1’s loss means they are now tied with Altitude for first place in the competition.

GRC have risen to third and Chico’s/ABL have dropped to fourth. Executive Accommodation have also made it on to the board after their first win of the season.

Close encounter

Senior A: Glenorchy v Year 9, 1pm, Court 2, Events Centre.

This week I’m picking a Seniors game to watch. Yr 9 leads by two on the points table but Glenorchy’s combinations are improving each week. It should be a good battle.
