The base jumping exploits of Queenstown’s very own daredevil Chuck Berry take centre stage in the upcoming Adventure Film Festival.
Berry and fellow jumpers take leaps (right) from “unjumped’’ peaks in Milford Sound and roam the Southern Alps during a 25-minute short film Uncharted.
Other short films, being shown at Memorial Hall in Queenstown from July 30-August 2, feature cutting-edge climbing, skiing and snowboarding pushing the limits, plus some brave Kiwi kayakers taking on glacier-fed waterfalls and pounding whitewater during an epic through Iceland.
The festival – in its fourth year – boasts an additional two nights on August 3-4 featuring longer films, including one following four surfers hunting waves in war-torn parts of Africa.
Festival director Kirsten Nicholl says the films have been selected for their celebration of adventurous spirit and their genuine wow factor.
A photographic exhibition by award-winning Queenstown-based photographers Mike Langford and Jackie Ranken will also be on display during the festival.
