Bottom dogs bite back twice

Queenstown Rovers striker Johnny Moore (far right) can’t find a way past Green Island’s Nathan Gunn during a disappointing 2-1 home defeat at the Events Centre last Saturday.

Rovers player Oded Nathen put them 1-0 up after 15 minutes but the lowly Dunedin side – bottom of the Footballsouth Premier League – scored twice to secure the points.

“We started really well then took the foot off the gas and paid for it,” Rovers president Steve Henderson says.

“If we’d won we would have jumped up two places instead of remaining in seventh.”

Rovers will have to be back at their best this Saturday – they are away to table-topping Dunedin Tech.
