Mountain bikers have a rare chance to race along the Moonlight Track behind Queenstown next month.
Organiser Adrian Bailey has added 20km and 50km mountain bike events to his fourth Ultimate Tri Series event at Moke Lake on March 17.
Bailey says the demand came after last month’s gruelling Shotover Moonlight Mountain Marathon from Skippers to Moke Lake.
Another addition for hardy runners will be the Ben Lomond Assault.
This will be a 10km grunt from Moke Lake to the summit of Ben Lomond and back.
Meanwhile, Bailey has scheduled next year’s mountain marathon – which also includes 5km, 10km and half-marathon legs – for February 23.
That’s three weeks later than this year’s event to avoid the hottest time of the year.
Bailey was also the brains behind the Race The Train 12km run last month which pitted entrants against the historic steam train the Kingston Flyer.
