The Arrowtown Premier rugby side has scored a home semi-final following its second big win in row.
Yesterday it polished off Roxburgh 43-3 at the Queenstown Events Centre, after a change of venue from Arrowtown’s Jack Reid Park due to unplayable ground conditions.
The team led just 12-3 at halftime before running away in the second half.
Fullback Lawrence ‘Loz’ Wadham scored a hat-trick of tries including a 50-metre effort in the first half.
The win means that Arrowtown has finished second in the Central Otago top-six competition.
This Saturday it plays third-placed Alexandra at Jack Reid Park in one semi-final.
In the other semi-final this Saturday, defending champion Maniototo, unbeaten all season, plays the Wakatipu Premiers in Ranfurly.
Wakatipu finished fourth after losing 35-24 to Alexandra in a high-scoring away game yesterday – Alexandra has been unbeaten at home this season.
The Wakatipu Wanderers were thrashed 74-0 by Matakanui in the bottom-four competition in Omakau yesterday.
