Arrowtown started their defence of the Mountain Scene Twenty/20 cricket competition in fine style last Sunday.
In freezing conditions at the Events Centre they piled on 141 for 8 against Jack’s Point. Tom Dagg top-scored with 30.
Arrowtown restricted Jack’s Point to 114 for 7 in reply, despite Ants Webb scoring 44.
Blake Lindsay captured two wickets for two runs, and Dagg snared two for 11.
In the most exciting game, Kelvin Heights and Central Queenstown finished their 20 overs tied on 122. Kyle Paterson scored 51 not out for Kelvin Heights, while Brad Patterson racked up 49 for Central Queenstown.
Patterson was supported by Fraser Wilson with 39.
Central Queenstown triumphed in the ‘super over’, making eight for one to Kelvin Heights’ five runs.
Fernhill/Sunshine Bay made a paltry 60 all out against Frankton in the competition’s first game last Friday.
Frankton’s Steve Devonshire took four wickets for 12 and Lachlan Frear got two for 13.
Frankton won by eight wickets with Cam Fawkner running up 26.
In a closer tussle on Sunday, Lake Hayes Estate were restricted to 88 against Wakatipu – Dean Jamieson dominated with 45.
Steve Ridley and Nick Brown both captured four wickets for 15.
Wakatipu overtook the total with just four wickets to spare, Corey Pain taking three wickets for 14.
