Competitors got a combined score for their slopestyle snowboard runs in the terrain park and wakeboarding passes in Kelvin Grove.

Organiser Richard Milsom, who owns Queenstown’s Waketours company, says the intention had been to run both legs on the Saturday.

The weather roughed up in the afternoon and the wakeboarding was held on Sunday.

“We got a great morning for the second part of the competition on Sunday, with sun and calm water. After the competition finished, everyone raced back to the mountain for the last day of the season.”

Milsom says he plans to hold the friendly, relaxed event annually.

“We just wanted a multi-disciplined sport and thought spring would be a nice time.

Milsom adds: “It’s two things Queenstown does really well. With the close proximity of the mountains and the water, you’re in a unique environment to do both in one day.”

The $500 raised from entry fees is being donated to the Bruce Grant Youth Trust, which supports aspiring Wakatipu youngsters achieving academically, artistically and in sport.
