Snowboarder Dave Saxton (right) soars through the sky at The Remarkables Big Air competition.
The 32-year-old rider hit the 18-metre jump three times at Sunday afternoon’s spectacular event.
Saxton says: “I managed two backside rodeo 540s and then tried a double backside rodeo 900.
“That last jump was something I’ve wanted to try all season. I over-rotated though and did two-and-a-half rotations instead of just two.”
More than two dozen riders and skiers took part in the inaugural TRIC Big Air competition, which had been delayed twice due to poor weather.
“It was a good crowd – all the local riders are super-friendly and really welcoming,” UK-born Saxton says.
