Queenstown Rovers player Jay Hardwick (left) jostles with Roslyn-Wakari’s Josh Hay during their nail-biting Chatham Cup soccer fixture last Saturday.
The Rovers lost 1-0 after Roslyn-Wakari scored in extra-time during the hard-fought match at the Events Centre in Frankton.
It means the Rovers are now out of the Chatham Cup, a nationwide knockout tournament.
Rovers player Luke Baldock says: “In regulation time the teams were very evenly matched but unfortunately we went down to a well-taken header in the second period of extra time. We hit the bar a couple of minutes later but it wasn’t to be.”
Striker Ian Low was the Rovers’ man-of-the-match.
Rovers play Green Island away in Dunedin this Saturday in the Footballsouth Premier League.
