Welcome aboard: NZ Sotheby's International Realty managing director Julian Brown, left, with new commercial division head Andrew Hyndman

By PHILIP CHANDLER

Local property expert Andrew Hyndman has been appointed to head Queenstown-headquartered New Zealand Sotheby’s International Realty’s (NZSIR) commercial
property division.

Hyndman has more than 30 years’ Australasian experience as a commercial and residential valuer and adviser, latterly with Colliers International in Queenstown.

NZSIR managing director, Queenstowner Julian Brown, says his recruitment comes when national and international interest in Southern Lakes property assets is strengthening, but with the foreign buyer ban on NZ residential property, the company wanted to offer opportunities to help people invest in non-residential property asset classes.

‘‘Despite the challenges of this year, there has been a continued interest in commercial and industrial real estate in the Southern Lakes by both owner-occupiers and investors.

‘‘Andrew’s expertise lies specifically in this area of the market, and we are delighted to welcome him to the team and utilise his experience as the head of the commercial property division at NZSIR.’’

Hyndman: ‘‘NZSIR is well respected around the world, and it’s great to be part of a progressive property company that was established right here in Queenstown.

‘‘I’m excited to be joining this dynamic culture and becoming part of the team [and connect] with clients across the country.’’
