One of Queenstown’s most successful realtors has jumped ship.

Former MP Hamish Walker, who was Harcourts NAI’s top New Zealand agent in December, has launched Premium Real Estate’s first South Island franchise — the Auckland-based firm’s being going since 1984.

‘‘An opportunity came along which I’ve seized,’’ he says.

‘‘The Premium brand is synonymous with luxury real estate, which is why I believe it is
the right fit for Queenstown.’’

Walker says he’s bringing across his Harcourts listings, including a major one for Gibbston Valley Resort.

In addition, he’s taken office space in Brett and Hollis Giddens’ restored former Waikaka Presbyterian Church, which was relocated to Queenstown’s Malaghans Road last year.

With apologies to the neighbours, Walker says he’ll ring the refurbished old bell every
time he makes a sale.
