Musical comedy superstars Flight Of The Conchords are headlining this year’s Queenstown Winter Festival.
Kiwi duo Bret McKenzie (right) – who won an Oscar last month – and Jemaine Clement perform at the Events Centre on June 24 during their first New Zealand tour for three years.
After their hit US TV series the duo have sold out tours across America and Europe.
Festival director Simon Green says: “We’ve been wanting a major international concert event back as part of festival for years and Flight of the Conchords definitely fits the bill.
“It is a credit to the hard work we have put in over the years with a variety of promoters to keep the festival on their radar and it’s great to see that work now paying off.”
About 1500 tickets from $55 to $79 will be available.
Visa pre-sales run 5pm next Tuesday to 5pm Wednesday – with four available per transaction. At 8am next Friday there’ll be 300 premium tickets for sale at the Events Centre – with a limit of two per person and you must turn up to get them. Internet and phone sales from noon.
“The fact the promoters have reserved a big chunk of tickets for locals to buy is also a fantastic gesture as we would envisage some pretty strong demand coming from other centres once those tickets sell out,” Green adds.
