Queenstown’s biggest party will return for four days next June, organisers have confirmed.
It’s been revealed the 45th Winter Festival will run from June 20-23, 2019.
Festival director Rae Baker’s keeping mum on plans for next year’s event, saying planning’s well underway and the programme will be released in the new year.
“I don’t want to give too much away.
“We’ll keep all the same favourites, and do what we did this year and turn tradition on its head.”
More than 45,000 people attended this year’s festival, which was “brilliant”, she says.
“We obviously invite all of us Queenstowners to party with us, and people from out of town to come and party with us.”
She’s not worried about the impact popular European winter festival Snowboxx will have on the event.
Snowboxx announced in August it’ll head to Queenstown for the first time next year, with stages at Coronet Peak and The Remarkables.
“Snowboxx is unlikely to affect Winter Festival,” Baker says.
“We’re really excited about Snowboxx, the more celebrations and events, the better it is for Queenstown.”
