Labelling themselves ‘The Wine Dogs’, a team of Queenstown wine pros finished a respectable fifth at the recent national wine tasting competition final hosted by the New
Zealand School of Food and Wine.

Pictured, from left, are Millbrook Resort’s Henry de Salengre, Taste and Savour’s Sally McChesney, Wine Tasting Party’s Sandra Soledad and The Winery’s Ed MacIntosh.

‘‘We were very happy to take part and represent our region, particularly due to how hard it’s been for the wine and hospo sector due to Covid,’’ MacIntosh says.

‘‘And we were keen to be part of an event that raises the profile of wine professionals and
sommeliers, a job which is often overlooked in NZ, particularly in our region.’’

The team funded their Auckland trip by staging a ‘library tasting’ at Millbrook’s Millhouse Restaurant.

That event was helped by generous sponsors donating vintage wines, MacIntosh says.
