We’re Whistler for a week

Truckloads of snow rolled into Queenstown as filming of a new big-budget Coca-Cola TV advert got underway.
Several tonnes of the white stuff were transported from local skifields to a set constructed at the Heritage Hotel in Fernhill – as snapped by Mountain Scene yesterday.

Up to a hundred extras – many locals – have been drafted in for the four-day shoot. The set replicates the Whistler ski resort in Canada, which will host events at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver.
It’s believed up to 16 tonnes of snow will be hauled to the Heritage for the promo, slotted to be screened worldwide next year.

“One of the scenes will involve a mass snowball fight,” a source says.
