Weekend weather: a crisp Saturday start

The best weekend weather this long weekend is likely to arrive on Monday.

There’ll be a fine and crisp start tomorrow, with temperatures rising into the high teens, Mountain Scene weather guru Chris Stephenson says.

“Watch out for those frost tender plants as we get down to around zero in the morning.”

Cloud thickens on Sunday with the risk of a few showers around the middle of the day.

Sunday’s high will be around 13 degrees.

Stephenson says: “Skies clear overnight on Sunday leaving us with a stunning Labour Day Monday with light winds, with a high around 15-16 degrees.”

Stephenson had 23 years in Metservice, including a stint as a non-degreed forecaster writing forecasts for New Zealand media.
