Wakatipu features in latest Hobbit preview

Some of the Wakatipu’s most impressive vistas have been lauded in Sir Peter Jackson’s latest preview of The Hobbit.

The sixth instalment of Jackson’s on-set videos shows fans of The Lord of the Rings where the film crew has been shooting around the country.

Posted on Facebook, the video shows the production team filming in Queenstown, Paradise past Glenorchy and at Wanaka’s Treble Cone – amongst the many locations across New Zealand.

The Hobbit’s second unit production manager Belindalee Hope describes the Earnslaw Burn, near Glenorchy, as “the most spectacular shooting location I think we have been to yet”.

Jackson tells viewers that Paradise is familiar territory: “That’s where we shot a few scenes, of The Fellowship of the Ring mainly, back in 1999.”

One actor says: “The great thing about this job is you get to see beautiful, beautiful places like this.”
