Wakatipu Aero Club lands 40th anniversary bash

Wakatipu Aero Club is inviting aviators past and present to its 40th anniversary celebrations next month.

Pilots, air traffic controllers and others involved in the local flying scene will be asked to a function at Queenstown Airport on November 19, club acting secretary Ian Webb says.

The guest speaker will be prominent local aviator Jules Tapper.

There will also be an aviation trivia quiz.

The club has trained many pilots who have gone on to flying careers around the world.

Specialising in mountain flying training, the club also has a commercial arm, Air Wakatipu.
