Queenstown cops are forensically testing alcohol bottles and cans left around Arrowtown School on Friday night to try to find the people responsible for vandalising it.

Senior sergeant Paula Enoka says the incident occurred some time after 5pm last Friday.

Two external heat pumps have been “kicked and removed” from the walls, the walls also had large holes made in them, and some walls have been graffitied.

“A small fire [has] also been lit in an open area, not up against the property at all.

“Bottles have been left at the scene – we’ve still got ongoing inquiries; we’ve got those bottles here for forensic testing.”

Damage appeared to primarily be focused on a block of classrooms beside an artificial turf court.

Police wanted to hear from anyone who saw or heard anything suspicious on Friday night.
