A Glenorchy group opposing the controversial proposed Fiordland tunnel is organising a public meeting in Queenstown.
The Tunnel Action Group is opposed to Department of Conservation granting consent for a 11.3km bus tunnel between the Routeburn and Hollyford Valleys.
The meeting will be held at Queenstown Memorial Hall on Sunday July 22 at 5pm.
Group spokesperson Vladka Kennett hopes the meeting will get the Queenstown public behind the fight to stop the tunnel being built.
“We want to share our Glenorchy community perspective of the tunnel proposal, to introduce action taken to date and to discuss how we can continue to effectively fight this proposal that will have a significant impact locally but will also be detrimental for international and domestic tourists.”
