Irish food ambassador Darina Allen is preaching the importance of locally-grown produce in Queenstown this week.
A cookbook author, TV presenter and leader of the Slow Food movement, Allen founded the renowned Ballymaloe Cookery School amidst an organic farm in County Cork.
Allen has been staying at Queenstown House with host Louise Kiely, who visited her at County Cork earlier this year.
Allen says: “When I come here, I want a taste of this place. I don’t want the same food as I can get in Shanghai or Hong Kong. It’s terribly important and mustn’t be under-estimated.”
Allen was particularly impressed that Queenstown’s Fishbone Bar & Grill’s owners grow their own greens.
