Queenstown hotel and accommodation providers have been recognised at a swanky awards
gala in Sydney, Australia — even if they couldn’t be there.

The 19th HM Awards for Hotel and Accommodation Excellence are the leading industry  awards in the region, celebrating the best properties, departments, people, chains and brands in Australia, New Zealand and the South Pacific.

For the second year on the hop, The Rees executive chef Corey Hume was named joint
Hotel Chef of the Year, along with Tasmania’s John Churchill (Crowne Plaza Hobart’s Core Restaurant), while its general manager Mark Rose and chief concierge Jimmy Meepol received highly commendeds in their respective categories.

Rose says Hume’s win, in particular, is worth acknowledgement, and a fitting reflection of his ‘‘talent and creativity’’.

Sofitel Queenstown took out the top-equal spot for NZ hotel, along with Park Hyatt Auckland, while QT Queenstown’s Antonelly Comuzio jointly won front office associate with
Jenna Barbing (The Darling Sydney, New South Wales).
