A free concert featuring top Wakatipu musicians has kicked off in the local Gardens to mark Waitangi Day.
Queenstown performers and musicians including Kiwi Haka, Ned Webster, Ghetto Blaster and Sunshine Sound System perform in the band rotunda in Queenstown Gardens from 1pm till 5pm today (Wednesday) at the Waitangi Day Community Picnic.
Queenstown’s council event organiser Jan Maxwell says: “Last year we had a great mix of locals and tourists of all ages and nationalities coming together to discover more about Maori culture and history.”
Stalls offering hangi food, Maori massage and flax weaving demonstrations are onsite. Admission is free.
