Queenstown Rotary’s Chris Campbell (right) has friends in high places.
The organiser of a glitzy, annual Melbourne Cup fundraiser has worked his contacts for memorabilia to auction off on Tuesday.
Campbell’s haul includes a framed electric guitar signed by hard-rocking band AC/DC and a signed copy of US President Barack Obama’s book The Audacity of Hope – complete with the official presidential seal.
He’s snagged a Tiger Woods-signed bib from his Kiwi caddy Steve Williams – whom Campbell met here last year.
“It’s through my personal relationship with Steve Williams that I’m able to get items of Tiger’s from him – he doesn’t give anything away.”
Then there’s the British Open flag signed by 23 winners and signed photos of Stevie Nicks and Al Pacino.
Campbell’s also tapped old mate and TV One news anchor Wendy Petrie to host the event held at Prime from noon.
Proceeds go to Queenstown Primary and Wakatipu Youth Trust. Tickets are $50.
