Arrowtown teen Tiarn Collins has been named in New Zealand’s Winter Olympic Games squad.
The 17-year-old, who will compete in snowboard slopestyle and big air, is still pinching himself.
“It is definitely surreal at the moment and hasn’t really sunk in fully. But it is super-exciting, my family is super-pumped and I guess it gives me a bit more fire to do even better.”
His home turf training season, at Cardrona, wraps up tomorrow.
After some down time he’ll head to China and complete stints in Europe and the United States, before the PyeongChang games in South Korea in February.
He’s had an impressive 2017, including a bronze medal at the FIS Junior World Snowboard Championships and placing eighth in the World Snowboard Championships, both in Europe.
