These bright Queenstown teens from Wakatipu High considered world issues with other South Island secondary school pupils recently.
Pictured (from left) are Matt Nicholson, 16, Hebe Hilhorst, 14, and Luke Petre, 14, at the annual Model United Nations Association conference in Dunedin.
Debating with mostly senior students, the local trio were the youngest team to enter the event.
Each representing a country, the students spent a day deliberating issues relating to the Democratic Republic of Congo, where the UN spends more than US$1 billion annually.
Matt and Hebe were awarded first and second best delegates at the conference, respectively.
Wakatipu High Angelo Programme coordinator Eleanor Quaid says there is a lot of work put into learning about topics and the code of conduct for speaking is strict.
