Queenstown will be beamed into more than a million Australian homes when the country’s top breakfast show comes to town.

Channel 7’s Sunrise will broadcast from the resort over two days later this month.

Viewers will be shown the delights of the 40th American Express Queenstown Winter Festival on June 19 and 20.

Sunrise hosts David Koch, Samantha Armytage, Mark Beretta, Natalie Barr and Edwina Bartholomew will jet over for the shows.

The show will also feature live crosses from various locations around the South Island for Australian weather forecasts for a week leading up to the show.

Channel 7, in partnership with Tourism New Zealand and Accor hotel gropup, ran a discount travel package offer for the first 60 viewers who phone in.

The 60 will stay at Novotel Queenstown Lakeside Hotel, have dinner with show hosts and visit Skippers Canyon and other attractions.

Novotel Queenstown Lakeside general manager Jim Moore says: “We are thrilled to partner with Sunrise and Tourism New Zealand to promote our alpine wonderland and entice Australians to hop across the ditch for an unforgettable winter resort experience.

“We’re off to a great start of the ski season with early snowfalls this month, so the Sunrise team and their 60 lucky viewers are sure to experience Queenstown in its element and we look forward to accommodating them while the live filming takes place.”
