Thirteen might be an unlucky number but this 13th hole at Millbrook Resort – which sales and marketing director Kim Carpenter is pointing to – could be very lucky for a keen golfer this Saturday.

To celebrate the opening of its driving range near the Arrowtown corner, Millbrook will shout $100,000 to anyone acing this 176m hole.

The contest at the par-3 hole is open to the top 50 qualifiers from a closest-to-the-pin competition at the driving range.

A $1 entry fee goes to the Wakatipu Trails Trust. The $180,000 driving range complex – constructed from a former woolshed at nearby Mt Soho Station – includes a coaching clinic classroom for Millbrook’s new golf academy.
