Remarkables Park Town Centre will soon be a one-stop shop for charging electric vehicles.

Four Tesla Supercharger bays were officially opened at the centre by mayor Jim Boult on Tuesday.

Centre manager Mike Smith says two generic electric vehicle (EV) chargers will be added in a few weeks.

“The result will be a dedicated parking and recharging area for EVs and Tesla vehicles. This will make Remarkables Park Town Centre the first shopping centre in New Zealand to offer this service.”

The Supercharger will charge a Tesla in about 90 minutes.

“We’re grateful to Tesla for this investment in the centre. It’s a fantastic leading-edge service that we’re excited to be able to offer our customers.”

The centre was picked because Queenstown is a popular destination for Tesla owners, Smith says.
