Talking their way into trophies


Five Queenstown drama students brought home trophies at the Southland Performing Arts Competitions in Invercargill last weekend. 

Victoria Boult (left), 14, won a trophy for improvisation and a nomination to compete in the New Zealand Performing Arts Association national award speech and drama competition next year. 

Wil Hughes (centre), 6, won the overall trophy for under-8s. 

Sophie Lake (right), 14, won trophies for public speaking and reading at sight. 

Anika Moetaua, 8, and Talia Hughes, 9, also won a trophy for open group drama. 

The students’ teachers are Anika’s mother Kate Moetaua, Jackie Shaw and Lisa Moore.
