First-time entrants Queenstown’s Bamford McLeod Construction have picked up a supreme award at the recent Southern Region House of the Year competition.

The building company won the award for their $500,000-plus renovation of a Lake Hayes home.

The project was handled by company owners Richard Bamford and Andy McLeod – project foreman Jeff Long also joined them for the awards bash.

Judges said the builders’ dedicated craftsmanship brought their clients’ requirements to reality.

“As numerous materials were used on this home, the builders have had to apply a range of skills to achieve a magnificent result.”

The other supreme award was again won by Arrowtowner Allister Saville’s A.J. Saville Builder for a new $2 million-plus home at Cardrona.

Other category winners from the Wakatipu were Stuart Clark’s The Lakes Building Company, for a new home in the $350,000-$450,000 category, and Trevor Ward Builders for a new home in the $1m-$2m category.
