Ski racing, snowboarding, freeskiing, cross country skiing and adaptive snow sports are now being represented by one umbrella organisation.
The five mountain sports fall under Snow Sports New Zealand, which registered its constitution with the Incorporated Societies Register today.
Each sport has an individual committee to monitor progress, but operations and administration are managed by SSNZ so up-coming athletes get the support they need.
“The goal of integration is to build an organisation that is most capable of accessing and delivering resources across all of the snow sports, to have one central point of contact for [funding agency] SPARC, the New Zealand Olympic Committee and international federations,” SSNZ chief executive Ross Palmer says.
“Our primary goal is to ensure that aspiring athletes are supported at all levels and across all five sports.”
