The countdown has begun.
Queenstown’s Coronet Peak is set to open this weekend, and with fresh snow on the slopes, things are looking promising.
Last week’s dump provided a big boost towards getting the mountain prepped for snow enthusiasts this Saturday, Coronet Peak ski area manager Hamish McCrostie says.
The ski area already boasts a 55cm base for the snowmakers to build on when temperatures drop below two degrees again.
Coronet Peak staff are getting primed for the winter season, with a staff sign-up day today and training starting tomorrow before the fields open on Saturday.
