Snedden hits out

The tourism sector’s been given a rocket.

Tourism Industry Association NZ chief executive Martin Snedden told Local Government conference delegates in Queens-town this week it’s time our multi-billion dollar visitor industry got its house in order.

Since taking the role a month ago Snedden says he’s found widespread perception the industry is fragmented, parochial and too demanding of Government support.

Snedden challenged the industry to work better collectively to solve its issues.

The comments come after a recent blast from Auckland Airport departing chief executive Simon Moutter – he told a Winter Festival business lunch he was bored of hearing tourism people moaning and often seeking Government fixes.
