One of the world’s biggest cricketing names and New Zealand’s hottest music talent got into a spin in Queenstown this month.
Famed former Pakistan cricket captain Imran Khan and Kiwi music sensation Gin Wigmore both rode resort thrill ride Shotover Jet during visits this month.
Wigmore was a customer early this week, relaxing after a national tour which finished in Dunedin last Sunday. Imran Khan took his jetboat trip through the Shotover Canyon on October 5.
Khan was one of cricket’s most successful all-rounders, and captained Pakistan to its sole win in the World Cup in 1992. Since then he’s had a less than stellar career as a politician, was briefly married to British socialite Jemima Goldsmith and performed charity work.
Singer/songwriter Wigmore has had a successful year, touring the States and picking up four gongs this month at the NZ Music Awards.
Shotover Jet general manager Clark Scott says staff weren’t aware either celebrity was taking a ride beforehand.
“Celebs often slip through, don’t mention a name or they book under a nom de plume or they’ll be staying at a luxury lodge which will book them under a girlfriend or travelling partner’s name.”
Scott says staff described Wigmore as “smoking hot”.
