A trio of talented teen rockers at Wakatipu High School are putting the call out for public support to get them to the finals of a national competition.
Queenstowners Harrison Maguire (drums), Ryan Connaghan (guitar/ vocals) and Jack Wilson (guitar), collectively known as Haven (above), placed second in their Rockquest regional final, after winning it last year.
They now hope public support can get them to the national finals in Auckland.
As one of the top 30 bands in the competition, they’re eligible to compete in the ZM People’s Choice award.
The band with the most votes becomes the tenth finalist.
Wilson says getting into the finals would be “pretty cool”.
“Meeting new people, what that would open up to us is the most significant part.”
The alt-rock band considers heavyweights Nirvana and Smashing Pumpkins among their biggest influences, he says.
Voting on the ZM website closes on August 22.
